Mission Statement
White Mountain Regional Airport provides fuel and services to local and transient pilots through modern and upgraded airport facilities. This facility strives to be energy efficient and a point of pride to the community and region, supporting economic development and related employment.
White Mountain Regional Airport (IZG), formerly known as Eastern Slope Regional Airport, was built in 1961. The Airport, one of 35 public use airports in the state of Maine, serves local general aviation traffic. Located near the convergence of State Route 113, State Route 5, and US Route 302, the Airport has a geographical reach that spans a multitude of municipalities across both Maine and New Hampshire. The airport is a year-round economic hub for businesses, tourists, flight training, emergency services, weather information and education. In 2025 the name was officially changed from “Eastern Slope” to “White Mountain Regional Airport” to more accurately reflect the area served. The Town of Fryeburg is the owner and sponsor of the White Mountain Regional Airport (IZG). The Town of Fryeburg is responsible for the receipt of grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Maine Department of Transportation, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and other agencies for infrastructure improvements to the property and facilities. The IZG Airport Authority, a non-profit organization, operates, maintains, manages, improves, promotes and develops the Airport for the Town.
